1.Grape SEED extract
The cardio vascular health benefits of grape
seed extract (GSE) have been researched extensively. The mechanism
of action appears to be related to its antioxidant activity.
Studies in rats and rabbits have shown that GSE consumption
increased the antioxidant capacity of plasma, inhibited Low
Density Lipoprotein oxidation, increased Nitrous Oxide and
protected against ischemia/reperfusion injuries 9,10,11
. Interestingly, in a single blind, randomized, placebo controlled,
trial using a cross over design on human subjects GSE was
shown to significantly increase serum antioxidant activity,
confirming GSE had a physiological effect in in-vivo, consistent
with in-vitro and animal studies.12
Tarac has completed a series of human
clinical trials in collaboration with respected research institutes
such as the CSIRO Health Sciences and Nutrition division.
This research has shown that Vinlife® Grape Seed Extract
can mediate vascular health.
2. Grape SKIN extract
Grapes and grape products, especially
those made from the skins and stems of grapes, are good sources
of flavonoids. Red Grape Skin extract contains a mix of substances,
some of which are found in grape seeds and some in red wine.
These substances include non-bioflavonoid polyphenols (derivatives
of cinnamic and benzoic acid) and bioflavonoid polyphenols
(quercetin, catechins, flavonols, and anthocyanins).
