Tarac's closed
loop technology provides
a pivotal contribution to the environment - solving a major
disposal issue and adding to the total financial return of
the wine industry.
The company collects and processes significant
quantities of winery residuals in Australia each year - approximately:
 |
100,000
tonnes of grape marc; |
 |
5,000 tonnes of filter
cake; and |
 |
20 million litres of distillation
wine, lees, tank washings and other winemaking residuals. |
Business
Operations Centre
Tarac business operations centre on the commercial recycling
of winemaking by-products. This is a pivotal component of
the Australian wine industry as it involves the recovery of
most of the industry's by products. The company's genuine
commitment to theenvironment is unchallenged and this is reflected
in the approach to its own residuals and recognition through
Government environmental awards... Solid by-products (or spent
marc), is recovered for stock feed. Liquid waste is treated
at a modern waste water treatment facility, developed and
owned by Tarac in association with a major Australian wine
producer. Plans are in place to use the treated water to irrigate
vineyards and pasture.
Greenhouse Challenge
Tarac is also a participant in the Greenhouse Challenge -
a program to reduce the quantity of greenhouse gas emission
into the atmosphere, along with other joint venture environmental
programs.
